Library visits for groups and schools

Your new Libraries website – launching on 1 April

We will be launching our new Libraries website on Wednesday 1 April. The site will not only have an improved look and feel, for the first time you will be able search the catalogue, join, log in to your account and borrow books from the homepage. Our existing Library webpages will be offline from Friday 20 March, in preparation for launching the new site. All your account information will be carried across on Friday 20, and will be there in the new site. The App will continue working throughout. We have more information on our website

School visits

All school classes are invited to visit their local library. Each visit can be made to suit a school's special requirements.

Your visit will include:

  • an introduction to the library and its services
  • finding stories
  • finding non-fiction and information books
  • time to explore and choose books to borrow

Each term we ask a different year group to visit. A risk assessment is available on request.

Term Year group
Autumn term Year 5, and also reception classes for Booktime
Spring term Year 3
Summer term Years 1 and 2

We will send a letter to confirm your booking and a library joining form, which can be copied and given to every child. We help reading skills by getting every child to become a library member and encouraging them to read a wide range of books.
