Individual electoral registration
Individual electoral registration means you are responsible for registering yourself to vote.
Register online
You normally only need to register once - not for every election. You’ll need to register again if you’ve changed your name, address or nationality.
You will get confirmation to say you're registered.
Before you start
You will need your National Insurance number.
Find your National Insurance number.
Who can register to vote
You can register to vote if you:
- are aged 16 or over
- live at your address for at least 6 months of the year
- are a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen or an EU citizen living in the UK and meeting certain requirements.
