Thames Chase Community Forest

Overview

Thames Chase Community Forest provides a rich mosaic of woods, nature areas and open public spaces.

The forest covers 40 square miles, including parts of Thurrock, Barking and Dagenham, Brentwood and Havering. It incorporates:

The forest is landscaped for wildlife, recreation and education. It is ideal for walkers, with some parts also suitable for horse riding.

Visitor centre

The visitor centre is open 10am to 5pm weekdays and weekends during the summer and 10am to 4pm in winter. Features include:

  • car parking – charges apply
  • toilets
  • a café

Further information

The aim of community forests in England is to improve the landscape and enhance the natural environment through tree planting. This community forest project is managed by the Thames Chase Trust, mainly through volunteers.
