Household waste and recycling

Your household waste and recycling collection services

The following information sets out what is seen as our standard resident waste and recycling service, as detailed in the Council’s Waste and Recycling Policy. Our general waste and recycling collection service, is provided using wheeled bins for different kinds of waste, while also providing a small food bin

Service Collection details
Green/grey wheeled bins Collections every 2 weeks on your usual day
Blue wheeled bins Collections every 2 weeks on your usual day
Brown wheeled bins Collections by subscription only, in the same weeks as blue bins on your usual day, except when we pause for winter
Food bins Collections every week on your usual day

Each week, the bins we collect from your street will depend on whether it's a 'Round A' or 'Round B' street – we collect blue and brown bins from one round and green/grey bins from the other round, then swap over the following week.

For a small number of properties, we must collect waste and recycling in bags rather than wheeled bins due to storage issues or due to a requirement to carry wheeled bins to up or down stairs to present waste for collection. If our standard vehicles are not safely able to access a properties collection point then a bag only collection waste and recycling service will be provided this is referred to as our Residential Bag-Only Waste and Collection Service.

For many flats located in the borough we provide a Communal Waste and Recycling Collection Service. For both these distinct types of residential waste and recycling services we may use different types of waste containers to collect from and they may have a unique collection schedule based on the requirements of the residential buildings accessing these services and their location.

Your street's collections

If you are receiving our general residential waste and collection services you can use the alphabetical list of streets provided below to determine a residential properties collection schedule based on its location within the borough. Alternatively, if you reside in a house or you are receiving our ‘bag-only’ residential waste and recycling services you can also view your collection schedule by using our postcode lookup form to view your collection schedule. To determine what type of waste will be collected and when we plan to next visit the property.
