Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

Stoneness Road and Oliver Road - West Thurrock

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect
of which is to: -

  • Prohibit any vehicle travelling along Stoneness Road between its junctions with London Road and Oliver Road.
  • Prohibit any vehicle travelling along Oliver Road from its junction with Stoneness Road for a distance of approx 215m in a westerly direction.
  • Prohibit any vehicle parking along both kerb lines of Stoneness Road between its junctions with London Road and Oliver Road.
  • Prohibit any vehicle parking along both kerb lines of Oliver Road from its junction with Stoneness Road for a distance of approx 215m in a westerly direction

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out Carriageway
resurfacing.

3) The alternative route for southbound vehicles is Stoneness roundabout, A126 West Thurrock Way northbound, Lancaster roundabout, A126 northbound, entry slip to A13, A13 westbound, exit slip to M25 J30, Link Road from junction 30 to Junction 31, Arterial Road roundabout, Stonehouse Lane, London Road eastbound, St Clements Way, Oliver Close and Oliver Road and vice versa for northbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.

4) The Order will come into force on the 29th September 2025 at 19:00hrs. Works are currently scheduled to take place nightly between 29th September 2025 and 2nd October 2025 between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. The works will be carried out in stages to allow access and egress to and from Hedley Avenue. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=GB145571922. It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
