Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

Rectory Road and Boscombe Avenue - Grays​

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

  • Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Rectory Road between its junctions with Boscombe Avenue and Chadwell Road.
  • Prohibit any vehicle from parking At Any Time along both kerb lines of Rectory Road from its junction with Overcliff Road for a distance of approx 66m in a northerly direction.
  • Prohibit any vehicle from parking along both kerb lines of Boscombe Avenue from its junction with Rectory Road for a distance of approx 30m in an easterly direction.

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out drainage repairs.

3) The alternative route for soutbound vehicles is Chadwell Road westbound, Southend Road, Palmers Avenue, Orsett Road, Stanley Road, Clarence Road, Bridge Road, East Thurrock Road, Whitehall Lane, Broadway, Dock Road, and Rectory Road and vice versa for northbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.

4) The Order will come into force on the 13th April 2026 at 08:00hrs and remain in force continuously until 17th April 2026 at 17:00. Exact dates however will always be specified o n https://one.network/?tm=GB149201556 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner

6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
