Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

High Road, North Stifford

1) Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the 1984 Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, intends to make the above named Order (“the Proposed Order”).

2) The general effect of the Order would be to;

  1. Revoke the existing “Bus Lane” on the lengths of road specified below: -
  2. On the southern side High Road, from the western kerbline of Cuckoo Lane in a western direction for a distance of 28m.
  3. On the northern side High Road, from a point 44m west of the western kerbline of Cuckoo Lane in a western direction for a distance of 22m.
  1. Introduce Bus Gate restriction “No Access Except local buses and cycles” at the location specified below: -
  2. On the southern side High Road, from the western kerbline of Cuckoo Lane in a western direction for a distance of 28m.
  3. On the northern side High Road, from a point 44m west of the western kerbline of Cuckoo Lane in a western direction for a distance of 22m.

3) A copy of the Proposed Order together with the plans can be viewed on Thurrock Council’s website at thurrock.gov.uk/publicnotices. Alternatively the proposals can be viewed by appointment during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm) by contacting the Transport Delivery Team via troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk. 4) Any support/objection to the proposed order must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made and sent to the following address Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or sent via email to troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk to arrive on or before 22nd May 2025. Any comments may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
