Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

Giffords Cross Road and The Manorway - Corringham

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Giffords Cross Road between its junctions with Springhouse Road and The Manorway. Prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 30mph on the eastbound carriageway of the A1014 The Manorway from Corringham Road A1014 Roundabout for a distance of approx. 498m in an easterly direction.

- Prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 10mph on the eastbound carriageway from a point approx. 498m east of the junction with Corringham Road A1014 Roundabout for a distance of approx. 542m in an easterly direction.

- Prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 30mph on the westbound carriageway of A1014 The Manorway from a point approx. 247m west of its junction with Atlantic Avenue for a distance of apprrox. 1.6km in a westerly direction.

- Prohibit any veihicle from exceeding 10mph on the westbound carriageway from a point approx. 1019m west of its junction with Pacific Avenue for a distance of approx. 556m in a westerly direction.

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing.

3) The alternative route for southbound vehicles on Giffords Cross Road is Springhouse Road northbound, Gordon Road westbound, The Sorrells, and The Manorway. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.

4) The Order will come into force on the 28th July 2025 at 19:00hrs. Works are currently scheduled to take place nightly between 28th July 2025 and 1st August 2025 between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=143978931 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner

6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
