Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
Fort Road and Brennan Road - Tilbury
1) The Borough Council of Thurrock is satisfied that it is necessary to restrict or prohibit traffic in the above road without delay because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road.
2) The Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has therefore made the following Notice:
- Prohibit any vehicles from travelling along Fort Road between its junctions with Gun Hill and Link Road to Windrush Way.
- Prohibit any vehicles from travelling along Brennan Road between its junctions with Fort Road and Sandhurst Road.
3) The purpose of the Notice is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out urgent repairs to the bridge joints and then carraigeway resurfacing.
4) The alternative route for northbound vehicles on Fort Road will be link road to Windrush Way, Windrush Way, Ferry Road, St Andrews Road, A1089, A13 eastbound, exit off slip to Orsett Cock Interchange, Orsett Cock Interchange, Stanford Road, Buckingham Hill Road, East Tilbury Road, Princess Margaret Road, Station Road, Church Road, and Cooper Shaw Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles. The alternative route for eastbound vehicles on Brennan Road will be westbound on Brennan Road, Civic Square, Calcutta Road, Dock Road northbound to join the main diversion and vice versa to access Brennan Road. Access will be maintained for residents.
5) The Notice comes into force at 19:00hrs on 28th January 2026 and will be valid for 5 days. It is however expected that the works will be completed over two nights. It will apply only on those days and during those times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
