Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC), has been commended by OFSTED for delivering high‑quality education, strong leadership and life‑changing opportunities for adult learners across the borough.
Inspectors found that the college provides consistently high standards across its adult learning programmes, including curriculum design, teaching, leadership and governance, careers guidance and personal development.
The report highlights the college’s strong record in supporting residents who face multiple barriers to learning, including those with low prior educational attainment, special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those from communities experiencing high levels of deprivation.
Learners were found to make substantial progress, producing work of a high standard and progressing on to further study, employment and skills‑based opportunities. Attendance rates are high, and many learners reported that the college had “changed their lives for the better”.
The report also recognises the college’s sustained focus on quality improvement and its commitment to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where learners are able to thrive.
Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education, and Community Safety, said: “This OFSTED report is a fantastic reflection of the passion, expertise and commitment shown every day by staff at Thurrock Adult Community College. On behalf of Thurrock Council, I would like to congratulate them on the work they do to transform lives across our communities, particularly for residents who have faced significant barriers throughout their educational journeys.
“We are incredibly proud of the impact the college continues to have across the borough. The college not only delivers high‑quality teaching, but also provides the confidence, skills and support that empower residents to move into work. I would like to thank every member of staff, tutor, and leader for their hard work to make this possible.”
