Residents meet Thurrock Council’s top team at South Ockendon for second ‘Ask the council!’ public question time

27 February 2025

Members of Thurrock Council’s cabinet and leadership team were on hand to answer questions from residents during the second ‘Ask the council!’ public question time on Tuesday 25 February.

The question time event, which took place at Harris Academy in South Ockendon, brought together residents from across the borough for an engaging discussion about the council's plans, as well as the issues and concerns that are most important to them.

The panel was made up of the council’s cabinet members and the senior officer team including the Chief Executive, Dr Dave Smith.

Cllr John Kent, Leader of Thurrock Council said: “We have promised that we will be an open council, and that we’ll get out into the community to hear from our residents. It was great to see people taking time out of their week to come and talk to us, to take such an interest in the work we are doing, and share their experiences and concerns with us. There were plenty of great questions and positive discussions about the things that matter most to our residents, from how we repair and maintain our roads, to housing and anti-social behaviour. We're thankful to everyone who took the time to submit their questions and we'll be publishing all the answers soon.

“Planning is already underway on our next ‘Ask the council!’ question time event which will take place in May. I hope as many people as possible can take part, come along and ask us about the issues that matter most to them.”

Notification of future events will be available on our website and in our residents newsletter.
