More buses are just the ticket

19 March 2026

More changes are coming to Thurrock’s bus network, thanks to the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.

From Saturday 28 March, the Monday to Friday daytime service on the 73 route will increase to run every 20 minutes (and will run every 15 minutes towards Lakeside in the peak morning hours).

On the 22 route there will be an enhanced 30-minute frequency on Sundays and Public Holidays with a new evening service.

Last month, the popular 100 service started running every 30 minutes during evenings from Monday to Saturday. Sunday evenings also saw the introduction of a new hourly service, giving residents more flexibility to travel later in the day.

The 200 service is also received a significant upgrade, with earlier start times and later evening journeys Monday to Saturday, a new 90‑minute frequency on Sunday.

In January, the 88 service moved to a seven‑day operation.

Cllr Victoria Holloway, Cabinet Member for Place and the Environment, said: “We continue to invest in improving local bus routes around the borough because we know how crucial these are for many of our residents and for local businesses.”

The enhancements are funded through the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.
