Thurrock Council election results announced

The results of Thurrock Council’s local election, held on Thursday 7 May 2026, have now been announced following the completion of the official count. 

This year’s poll was an all-out election, with all 49 council seats across 20 wards contested.  

Following verification and counting of votes, the overall result is: 

  • Reform UK - 45 seats 
  • Labour Party - 2 seats 
  • Conservative Party - 2 seats 

Counting took place at The Civil Hall, Grays, RM16 2JU, with all results formally declared today (Friday 8 May). 

Ward-level results, including the number of votes cast for each candidate, have been published in full on Thurrock Council’s website. 

Dr. Dave Smith, Returning Officer for Thurrock Council, said:

“As well as congratulating our newly elected and returning Members, I would also like to thank everyone who took part in the election, including voters, candidates, agents and the staff who supported the delivery of polling stations and the count.”
