Councillor Victoria Holloway, Cabinet Member for Place and Environment, said: “Spending time outdoors can have so many positive benefits on our mental and physical health. As the weather begins to get warmer, there is no better time to explore the wonderful green spaces and parks that Thurrock has to offer.”

Ways to Get Active in the Parks Together

Here are some ideas to get moving and enjoy quality time outdoors:

  • Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of things to find in the park, like specific trees, flowers, or animals. It’s a great way to explore new areas while staying active!
  • Bug Hunt: Head to grass or woodland areas and see what bugs you can find. It’s a fun activity and way to engage with nature for kids and adults alike.
  • Football: No goals? No problem! Use anything you find—trees, sticks, or even bags—to create makeshift goals and enjoy a friendly game of football.
  • Frisbee: Grab a frisbee and find an open space to enjoy this easy, active game with friends or family.
  • Make a Kite to Fly: Get creative and make your own kite to fly in the wind. It’s a fun and active way to enjoy the outdoors as a family.
  • Kids' Games: Bring back classic kids’ games like Duck Duck Goose, Tag, What’s the Time, Mr. Wolf?, and Piggy in the Middle. These games are great for getting the whole family moving and laughing together.
