Fresh funding boost supports milestones for Reanimating Coalhouse Fort project

The Reanimating Coalhouse Fort project has taken a significant step forward due to an award of £10,000 from Historic England’s Capacity Building Grant Programme.
This vital investment will support essential project foundations, such as the recruitment and training of volunteers. The funds will also assist the development of a business plan and long term funding strategy, plus establish a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

Successful open weekend at Coalhouse Fort

More than 1,000 people attended two open days at Coalhouse Fort over the weekend of 12 - 13 October, after it re-opened its gates to visitors for the first time in over four years.
The two open days were an opportunity for residents with an interest in history an opportunity to have their say on how it should be run in the future while surveys to establish what work is required to make the site safe are required.

Historic Coalhouse Fort in East Tilbury is set to re-open its gates to visitors for the first time in 4 years as surveys get underway to identify what works are required to return the fort to its former glory.
A series of open days will also take place at Coalhouse Fort, giving residents with an interest in history an opportunity to have their say on how it should be run in the future.
